The Power Of The Blue Tick

internet connection technology travel

The ultimate achievement on social media for many is that mighty blue tick that sits next to the names of some of the world’s most influential people. Beyoncé. Jay-Z. Coldplay. You name any celebrity on social media, and they’ll have the blue tick. In recent years, the blue tick has also been awarded to journalists, influencers, and other influential organisations.

While it is nice to have some validation for the work you’ve done, what happens when drama breaks out and the blue tick suddenly becomes a shield? We’ve pondered this question for months since Christopher Bouzy started interfering in the Megxiteer vs. Sussex Squad fight.

Bouzy has a verified Twitter account, which he uses to attack and single out users who dare question Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. What’s more, is he hides behind the blue tick, which he appears to think protects him from being removed from the platform. He has a history of cyberbullying, which stems as far back as the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard drama. Not to mention, he also picks on those who do not follow the same political agenda he does.

While he’s bad, Donald Trump ran his mouth a bit too much when he was on social media while he was President of the United States. The situation with the former POTUS got so bad, and after so many temporary bans, he received an IP ban, which is the highest ban you can receive from the platform. He was also removed from Instagram and Facebook. The blue tick went to his head.

Having The Blue Tick Doesn’t Give You Immunity

Having the blue tick doesn’t give anyone instant immunity. It can be removed for any number of reasons. One example is if your account is inactive for some time. Another is when you get suspended from the platform where you lose not just the blue tick but the entire account.

Now, with the situation going on Megxiteer territory, Bouzy came out of nowhere, and no matter how many times people report him for abuse and harassment, Twitter won’t do anything. This has only increased in his ego ask if he’s a small child going, “You can’t do anything to me! Nah, Nah, Nah!”

This leads us to think he believes the blue tick gives him immunity over those who don’t. We don’t believe this. After all, YouTuber Murky Meg received a blue tick, and a week later, she got an IP ban, despite having done nothing wrong. The only reason she was removed from Twitter was that the Sussex Squad mass reported her for any number of things. The platform had no choice but to cave to their demands that a “racist” be removed from the platform. Not only is this wrong, but it also shows that social media CEOs and their disciples will do anything to keep their stocks high.

However, the whole drama with the wokeness of Twitter has seen the platform lose a LOT of its shares. While the shares have come back up in the last few weeks. People are have jumped ship and have gone over to rival platform Gettr.

When Journalists Us Their Blue Tick To Bully Others

While this does not apply to everyone, we’ve seen journalists who hate the royals or align themselves to certain factions use their blue tick to slander others. Ellie Hall of Buzzfeed agreed with a Tweet where the poster said they traffic Catherine. Omid Scobie, better known as Meghan and Harry’s mouthpiece, does it all the time. Even Chris Ship is now catching onto the apparent trend of trashing the royals, and he’s supposed to be reporting on them. He trashed the DoC’s birthday portraits on national television. Let’s not forget vocal republican advocate and the BBC’s golden boy, Amol Rajan, and his resurfaced tweets where he said he wanted to throw a brick at Catherine.

Here’s our question, how can you claim to be a royal journalist but then, you’re not subjective? Omid is a classic example of this. Before Meghan came on the scene, no one knew who he was. Then, all of a sudden, he’s got his name in lights. He is then permitted to write a biography with Carolyn Durand on the Sussexes.

If you’re only going to criticise someone and not everyone else, why are you doing the job you are? Why report on something you don’t like? Our philosophy is, if you don’t enjoy it, don’t do it. However, we understand if you’re trapped in a career you don’t necessarily like.

Just because you have the blue tick doesn’t mean you can force people to read your work or talk to you. To get someone to respect you, it needs to be earned. Why someone thinks they can have something handed to them because they’re seen as important is beyond our comprehension.

Social Media Platforms Don’t Care Who You Are

Social CEOs and their underlings don’t care if a person seeking verification is famous or not. All they care about is turning a profit. They’re a business, and it’s their job to make money to keep it running, pay wages, etc.

Every social media platform is different. They have different terms and conditions that differ from what you can and cannot do. Since Jack Dorsey, the co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, left, someone else has taken over. They’re more woke than Prince Harry as this guy, Parag Agrawal, allegedly doesn’t believe in the First Amendment.

To control what people say is no different from a dictatorship. Why do you think people have been vocal about the female tennis player who the Chinese government is trying to silence? Also, it is no secret that a weak spot for a narcissist or a woke person, in general, is criticism. They despise it. If they want something to go away, they will scream victimhood until they get what they want.

Returning to the CEOs, they only want to do their jobs, while some want to shut people down due to their opinions. This is why people are jumping from Twitter to Gettr, as the newer platform allows 100% free speech.
