The New Look Marvel Cinematic Lineup  – San Diego Comic Con Reveals New Details

Marvel San Diego

San Diego Comic Con 2024 might have hinted at a new revival for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU Universe hasn’t quite been the same since the success of Avengers: Endgame. The beloved franchise’s last major triumphs were Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home.  Since then, its other projects have been lukewarm. It has also been hit with scandals such as Kang actorJonathan Majors being fired, as per Rolling Stone Australia, from the MCU due to personal matters.

There have also been massive box office failings such as The Marvels, which failed to hit the success of its predecessor Captain Marvel. Thor: Love and Thunder also failed to be the success everyone thought it would be. Also, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever fell flat. This was despite the production’s best efforts to save it after the unexpected passing of its star, Chadwick Boseman. The focus then fell upon Letitia Wright’s Shuri. This also includes the departures of Marvel long stays including Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Downey Junior.

While every franchise has its pitfalls, San Diego Comic Con appears to have hinted at the new life that has been breathed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We’ve known for a while that the Fantastic Four was coming. But the Hall H panel during this year’s SDCC has revealed that the superhero family will have a big role to play in the upcoming projects. The new film will be titled The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The Russo Brothers Return For Marvel’s San Diego Comic Con Panel

It has also been revealed, as per ScreenRant, that Joe and Anthony Russo will be returning to the MCU to direct both new Avengers projects. Also, Avengers 5, which originally was going to focus on Kang, and was called “The Kang Dynasty” has been repurposed as Avengers: Doomsday which will instead bring in the long-awaited Fantastic Four villain, Victor Von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom. But that wasn’t the most surprising part. It was revealed by the Russos that they were bringing back Robert Downey Junior, but as Doom, not as his beloved Tony Stark.

How the resemblance between Doom and Stark will be addressed is anyone’s guess. Could Victor be a Tony variant from another Earth who turned evil? Perhaps the TVA (from Loki) missed something when they appeared in Deadpool and Wolverine.

They also did a Captain America: Brave New World panel and they bought out the cast of the Thunderbolts* movie.

There wasn’t anything new revealed, outside of the retitled Avengers movie. Much of the information was already out there in the open.
