BIOGRAPHY
Comic Book Origin
Cassie Lang is the only child of Scott Lang and his ex-wife, Margaret.
As a young girl, she was very sick due to a congenital heart condition. Ultimately, this prompted her father to steal Doctor Hank Pym’s Ant-Man equipment and some of the scientist’s Pym particles.
Scott stole Pym’s suit so he could rescue Doctor Sondheim, the only person with the power to save his daughter.
Upon Scott and Margaret’s divorce, Cassie spends her time with her father. As time passes, she learns of his superhero life. She even becomes close to Tony Stark and calls him “Uncle Tony”.
However, her mother and new stepfather don’t like Scott being an Avenger.
Margret and her new husband dub his new lifestyle unsafe and attempt to seek custody of Cassie. In their eyes, she shouldn’t be involved.
As she grows up, Cassie becomes bitter towards her mother and stepfather. However, her relationship with her stepdad than worsens.
The relationship between Cassie, her mother, and stepfather Blake nosedives further when Scott dies in action. She runs away and finds herself in Los Angeles where she meets the Runaways and Jessica Jones.
Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Cassie Lang
The MCU version of Cassie Lang is similar to her comic counterpart but with a few changes. Number one, she isn’t sick. However, her mother and stepfather begin their time in the first Ant-Man film as having a grudge against Scott. Though, the reason is different as they hate him because he ended up in prison for theft.
However, Cassie’s closeness to her father is still there. We first see her at age seven, which is the first time she sees her dad since his release from prison.
Scott’s visit causes tension with her mother Maggie and her fiancée, Jim who has been Cassie’s father figure in Lang’s absence.
Maggie and Jim’s minds change when Scott steals Hank Pym’s Ant-Man suit to rescue Cassie from Darren Cross. After this, the four of them become a close family unit.
Sometime later, Scott is summoned to Germany to fight on Captain America’s side against Iron Man in the Avengers Civil War. He is arrested alongside Clint Barton, and both are put under house arrest.
Maggie and Jim are supportive of Scott’s decisions and allow Cassie to spend weekends with him.
Meanwhile, Maggie voices her disgust at the FBI for combing through Lang’s house after his foot ends up through the fence.
After the Ghost debacle, Cassie spends time with Scott and Hope Van Dyne.
Five years later, Cassie is reunited with her dad when he shows up at her house.
