Hawkeye: FINALE – Is Laura A Version Of Mockingbird? Unpacking The Hawkeye Finale

Mockingbird

The finale of Hawkeye is finally here, and it left us with answers but more questions. While Yelena received closure for Natasha’s death, Kate found herself a possible new friend and a pseudo-family in the Bartons. What’s more, Maya’s story will continue in Echo. Also, we still don’t know anything more about Jack outside of him being good. Then, we have Eleanor being carried away for murdering Armand. Finally, we reach Laura and whether she is Mockingbird.

Also, we still don’t know anything more about Jack outside of him being good. Then, we have Eleanor being carried away for murdering Armand. Finally, we reach Laura and whether she is Mockingbird.

So, we’re breaking down these plot points into smaller fragments.

  • Yelena Gets Closure
  • Kate’s New Family
  • Jack
  • Eleanor’s Arrest
  • Is Laura Mockingbird?
  • What Happened To Kingpin?

Yelena Gets Closure

We knew going into the finale that Yelena would get the chance to kill Clint as Valentina instructed. However, she didn’t end up going through with the hit. Before she attempts to carry out the mission, she asks him what happened to her sister.

Clint tells her what happened is complicated. He explains she wouldn’t believe that Natasha committed suicide to get a glowing rock. Instead, he chooses to omit the time heist. In its place, he gives her the cliff notes version of how Natasha sacrificed herself for him. At first, Yelena doesn’t believe him. To stop her from attacking him, Clint does the whistle Yelena and Natasha did as kids.

Yelena questions how he knew about it. Clint explains Nat showed him. They both express remorse for not being able to stop Natasha’s death and tell how much they loved her. The former assassin does the right thing and pulls Clint to his feet.

Now, we don’t know when Yelena will pop up again, but it will be interesting what her and Clint’s dynamic (if there is one) will be. Also, we look forward to seeing how her relationship develops with Kate.

Kate’s New Family

Kate becomes short on family when her mother is arrested for Armand’s murder. Also, her stepfather goes MIA? Anyway, Clint invites her to celebrate Christmas with him and his family. She accepts, and they take Lucky with them to the homestead.

The Bartons are incredibly welcoming to her, and Laura is very maternal in the way she hugs her. We’d love to see the relationship develop further so that Kate becomes an honorary Barton. It looks like the kids have already taken to her. The kids love Lucky too. Kate could take on a role similar to what Natasha did. However, the kids are older now, and it’s unlikely they’ll call her “Auntie Kate”.

Jack

Okay, so Jack wasn’t the bad guy we thought he was going to be, and honestly, we’re kinda conflicted. He used a sword in the fight, and it looks like he’s going to become a LARPer. Though, one thing bothers us. Why was he smiling in the finale poster?

Eleanor’s Arrest

Kate’s mother, Eleanor was revealed to have killed Armand for Wilson Fisk. How this will affect Kate going forward is anyone’s guess. Though, we all knew something cagey was going on. However, it wasn’t what we thought it was going to be. It appears we were way off with the “Eleanor killed Derek” thing.

Is Laura Mockingbird?

Moving over to our Mockingbird thought, and there still wasn’t anything leading to Laura being Mockingbird. Though, we did get confirmation that the Rolex belonged to her. We also discover she was a S.H.I.E.L.D agent, thanks to the logo on the back. What caught our attention was the number 19. What could that mean? Could she have been Agent 19 like Sharon Carter is Agent 13? Could she have been like Nat and a former Black Widow who got out before she could be sterilised? Anything’s possible.

What Happened To Kingpin?

Finally, Maya is put in a difficult position when she confronts Wilson Fisk. He engages in combat with Kate and is unhappy that Eleanor tries to leave their contract. He is then allegedly shot by Maya. However, we don’t see him get shot.
