So, I was inspired to write this Chronicles of Harkle post by a comment Meghan made during the Oprah Interview. It’s one of the many things that stayed with me, and I thought it was time to explore things Markle has said in the past that she doesn’t believe. I’ll go over the inspiration was in a little bit.
There were many quotes and small moments I could’ve chosen from, but I went with these five as they stood out to me. Without further ado, let’s jump into the deep end, shall we?
1. “I love grandmothers!”
Okay, this first one is the inspiration for the post. It’d been stuck in my head a few days, and I had to use it somewhere. So, during the Oprah interview, Meghan claimed she loved grandmothers and that she was close to her own grandmother. Ultimately, this made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. If she did love grandmothers, why is she depriving her children of seeing their great-grandmother in person and turning her husband against his grandmother?
By saying that the royal family was racist, she was implicating EVERYONE, including the matriarch of said family. Also, the story she told about caring for her grandmother was true. Furthermore, this is according to Emma Pryer and Peter Sheridan of the Mirror.
2. Five Years
So, another comment that has stood out to me is how she said that if you can’t give something five minutes of your time, don’t give it five years. Okay, well, she didn’t give her lifestyle blog, The Tig, five years. She also gave up her marriage to Trevor Engelson after not even two years. They dated for almost a decade. Not to mention, the biggest clanker here is she gave up being a working royal after 72 engagements. Most of the 18 months she worked for the monarchy was spent pregnant or on holiday.
Princess Anne is one of the hardest-working royals in the entire British monarchy. She does hundreds of engagements per year. According to an Express December 2021 article, the Princess Royal did a total of 368 engagements in 2021. That beats Meghan’s 72 engagements in 18 months.
It is my opinion that Meghan only made that comment to appear sage-like. Just because she was an actress for almost twenty years doesn’t mean she’s suddenly wise. Also, she believes in her mind that if something is “too hard,” she can just quit and no one will question her. She’ll always have an excuse on hand, such as “It was affecting my mental health.”
3. Not Caring About Titles
Another instance from the Oprah interview that has stood out to me is Meghan’s comment about how she wanted titles for her children, but she didn’t care for the title of “Duchess.” According to her, the greatest title she will ever have is “Mom.” I call BULLSHIT on that one too.
I’ve seen people claim, and there’s evidence to back this up, that she loves being “the Duchess.” Apparently, there was a rumour from the set of Ellen where she insisted that the staff refer to her as “the Duchess.” Not sure if I believe that one, given where the rumour allegedly came from.
When she is introduced anywhere, she is referred to as “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.” Also, when she and Harry did that fake royal tour of New York, she had a Lady Dior bag embossed with the letters “DSSOS,” which stands for “Duchess of Sussex.” She thought she would be clever, and it would go over people’s heads. However, it didn’t.
Also, her devoted cult of followers are stupid enough to claim that “the Duchess of Sussex” is Meghan’s name. No, it’s not. She has no legal claim to the title as the dukedom was awarded to Harry. She only became “Duchess of Sussex” because “Duchess” is the feminine version of his “Duke” title.
Not to mention, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, did a storytime reading for Ceebees, and not once did she refer to herself as “the Duchess of Cambridge.” However, when Meghan said her own book, The Bench on a YouTube channel, she refers to herself as “the Duchess of Sussex.” She had even used it on the cover of the book.
4. She Wanted To Be A Working Royal And Would Go Back In A Heartbeat
For comment number four, we have the classic “I tried so hard to fit in” crap. Meghan told Oprah that if things had gone the way she wanted, she would go back to being a working royal. BULL. SHIT.
I do not believe that a second, and Meghan doesn’t either. She only said that she tried to be a royal, so she could add it to her victim narrative. As Valentine Low said, she never wanted to be a royal, and she had to say something to convince Harry to follow her back to the US. All she wanted was the title so that she could market herself in a way that she hadn’t been able to do so before. It’s not rocket science.
Also, recent reports say that she believes the UK is a lost cause and that she’s never going back there. Well, I guess that means her children will never set foot there. The Queen will die never getting to see them or meet Lili.
5. That Harry Was “Nice”
For this last comment, I had to bring up what Meghan claimed in the engagement interview. She and Harry allegedly met on a blind date, and she allegedly asked the friend that set them up if Harry was “nice.” Yeah, I have serious doubts on this.
During the interview, Meghan was attempting to come across as a naive girl from America who didn’t know about the royals. She did the same thing during the Oprah interview too. Also, I doubt it was a blind date. She was a woman in her mid-thirties who was an actress and had studied international studies or whatever in her college days. There is no way she would NOT have known who Harry was. We also know from what the mother of one of her former friends has said in the past, she [Meghan] was obsessed with Diana. She watched the 1981 wedding on VHS and cried during the duration of Diana’s funeral in 1997.
Since Meghan had watched the funeral, there is NO WAY she would’ve missed seeing her future husband walking behind his mother’s coffin with his father, brother, uncle, and grandfather.
