Catherine, The Princess of Wales, is closer to becoming Queen consort. Upon the accession of her father-in-law, King Charles III, after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Catherine’s husband, Prince William, was named The Prince of Wales. Since The Princess does a great job representing the British monarchy, let’s look at five fun facts about her.
1. Sporty
Catherine is insanely sporty and loves trying new sports. She was a rower at University and played field hockey as a teenager. She has also played tennis, cricket, street hockey, soccer, and rugby, and she skis and knows how to sail. That is a LOT of sports. According to her cousin-in-law, Mike Tindall, the husband of Prince William’s cousin, Zara Phillips, Catherine often beats him at table tennis.
2. Cannot Speak Any Language Except English
Unlike many of her in-laws, Catherine, The Princess of Wales, cannot speak any language other than English. She lived in Florence, Italy, for a few months when she was younger but does not remember any form of Italian.
However, her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are learning Spanish from their nanny, Maria, a Spanish native. We wonder if Catherine has caught on to bits and pieces.
3. Catherine, The Princess Of Wales Is Close To Her Aunt-In-Law, Sophie, The Duchess of Edinburgh
Catherine is very close to Prince William’s Aunt Sophie, who is married to his uncle, Prince Edward. They are often seen joking around. One time, Sophie was climbing into a carriage after Catherine was already in the same carriage, and she almost fell on Catherine as she was getting in. They were able to laugh about it afterwards.
Sophie and Catherine were also standing together with Queen Camilla, George, and Charlotte during the possession of the Queen’s body while it was en route to Windsor. Also, Sophie is seen during the funeral comforting George.
4. Catherine, The Princess Of Wales Is Known For Her Affordable Fashion
While Catherine does wear expensive clothing items from time to time, she is better known for having an incredible eye for affordable fashion. She is well-known for wearing jewellery that can be bought for under one hundred pounds.
The reason many women admire Catherine for her sense of fashion is because she not only knows how to put an outfit together, but she also uses a tailor.
5. She Understands Royal Protocol And Respects It
Unlike a certain in-law, Catherine understands royal protocol and respects it. She allows him to go first if she is with William at an event. The royal goes first, not the spouse. However, there have been times when William has accompanied Catherine on events where he allows her to go first as it is her event.
When the Queen was alive, Catherine followed many of the rules she had in place, such as only wearing a particular shade of nail polish. The Queen also wasn’t a big fan of wedged shoes, though Catherine did wear them occasionally, but in appropriate settings.
