Who Is Robb Stark In Game Of Thrones?

Robb Stark, Game of Thrones

Born the eldest son and child of Eddard “Ned” Stark and his wife Catelyn Tully, Robb Stark was meant to be king. But Game of Thrones has a habit of denying its characters happy endings. He and his pregnant wife, Talisa Maegyr, were killed during what is known as the Red Wedding. The massacre also claimed the lives of the Stark family matriarch, Lady Catelyn and Robb and Talisa’s unborn child. Tywin Lannister, Roose Bolton and Walder Frey arranged the massacre of the Starks breaking a marriage pact.

Robb has five younger siblings, bastard half-brother Jon Snow (later revealed to be his cousin), sisters Sansa and Arya and brothers Bran and Rickon. His demise is the reason why his siblings became the way they did. Though, the actual event that started Robb Stark down the path he entered was the unnecessary execution of his father, Ned, on the orders of Joffrey Baratheon.

The Origins Game Of Thrones’ Robb Stark

Robb Stark was born at Riverrun but raised at Winterfell. Ned left Catelyn to fight in Robert’s Rebellion and did not return to his wife until Robb’s birth. It is speculated that Robb Stark was named in honour of Robert Baratheon, though it is unclear if this is true.

The future King of the North had a close friendship with Theon Greyjoy, Ned’s ward and was a decent swordsman.

Robb Stark was close to all of his siblings and was even willing to help a disabled Bran in his archery lesson. He and Jon tease their brother over his poor shot, leading to their father reminding them that they were no better when they were Bran’s age.

When King Robert arrives at Winterfell, Robb helps his mother maintain order. He has to pull Arya out of the feast when she starts tormenting Sansa, though the quarrelling amuses him. Robb also takes an instant dislike to Joffrey and is horrified when Sansa displays admiration for him.

After Ned is executed, Catelyn has to comfort her grieving eldest son.
