WandaVision: It’s Fine To Hate Hayward!

Hayward

It’s more than okay to hate Acting Director Tyler Hayward. We hate the man too!

Ah, yes. Tyler Hayward. The thorn in Monica Rambeau’s side when it comes to S.W.O.R.D. and how the organisation is run. That brings us to this post. We wanted to say whole heartedly that it is more than fine to HATE on the Acting Director of S.W.O.R.D.

Hayward really seems to have it out for Wanda which is why Darcy and Woo were uneasy when he implied that Maximoff is a terrorist. He is also the one that ordered that Vision’s body be dismantled and used supposedly to create weaponry.

He was pushing the idea that it is Wanda that is trying to use her dead robotic love as a weapon. We know this isn’t the case. She was the one that broke into S.W.O.R.D. to get the corpse (or rather what’s left of it) back.

You have to admit that Darcy’s line about Hayward being a dick was accurate even if it didn’t start out being obvious. Though, it’s a shame Woo didn’t say something more… demeaning about their superior. Also, does anyone think that he was pushing for the Director role of S.W.O.R.D.? Did he really despise Maria (and Monica) that much?

What really stands out from Episode 5 is how Wanda uses her powers to deflect the guns S.W.O.R.D. had on her over to Hayward. It’s also apparent that they have had some interaction in the past. Could it have been when she went to S.W.O.R.D. and she was confronted? We hope there’s some pay off from this because she wouldn’t have reacted the way she had if they didn’t know each other.

Sneaking Suspicion

When we met Hayward in the Episode 4, we had a suspicion something wasn’t right with him. The way he says that he was the only choice to lead S.W.O.R.D. after Maria’s death and since Monica had been blipped.

If Monica had been there, she would have been the one to replace her mother. After all, it was Maria’s organisation. Why wouldn’t she want her daughter to take over? Also, the more we think about it, the way Hayward told Captain Rambeau to go to Westview makes us (and a lot of other people) think he wanted her out of the way. He wanted her to get sucked into the anomaly, hoping she wouldn’t come back.

Hayward was probably surprised when Wanda threw Monica out. If he has an ulterior motive, it’s clearly not playing out in the way he thought it would. If he gets rid of his overall competition, the DIRECTOR position will be his if no one else steps up like last time.

We’re hoping there’s some hint to what he’s up to because it could go any way. When it happens, it is going to be explosive as hell and we’re all for it. Please Wanda and/or Monica kick his ass! Maria would be so proud.
