There is a massive difference between Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin. One of them has not got an ego the size of California while the other loves flaunting their wealth. Does this warrant a second chance?
Variety is reporting that Felicity Huffman is getting a second chance. The actress, who was involved in 2019’s college admissions scandal has reportedly in negotiations to play a part in an upcoming series on ABC.
Hollywood doesn’t often grant criminals a second chance, but if Robert Downey Jr can jump back after his stint with drugs and being in prison, then so can Felicity. The college admissions scandal made international news in March 2019 when fifty wealthy parents, including Huffman and fellow actress Lori Loughlin, were caught faking credentials to get their children into ivy league universities across America.
Felicity was always upfront about having paid money to have her eldest daughter’s SAT score altered after she was caught. She also apologised within days. However, Lori Loughlin is a totally different story. For months she refused to acknowledge what she did was wrong. Her excuse was that she was going it for her daughters and any parent would’ve done it.
Not all parents are wealthy like you, Lori. Anyway, with Felicity getting a second chance to prove herself, does Loughlin deserve the same treatment?
No, Lori Does Not Deserve A Second Chance
Like Felicity, Lori didn’t have a record of crime or bad behaviour prior to the college admissions scandal. However, once she was arrested and released on a million dollars bail – or whatever it was – Loughlin insisted she did nothing wrong and she and her husband paid $500,000 to have their daughters, Olivia and Isabella to the University of Southern California on rowing scholarships. The girls did not participate in the sport.
Lori and Mossimo, her husband and the father of her daughters did not think once about what the girls wanted. All they cared about was increasing their own reputation. We covered the scandal a lot at the time and we still do when the topic comes up.
Felicity only wanted to help her daughter while Lori was eager to brag to her more wealthy friends that Isabella and Olivia attended USC.
What makes this even more disturbing is that Giannulli intimidated one of the teachers at the high school Olivia and Isabella attended when they raised questions about the youngest of their daughters being admitted to the University of Southern California.
Lori doesn’t deserve a second chance because her ego is so inflated that she thinks her kids are better than the others that were more deserving of those scholarship spots they took. If she does make a Hollywood comeback, it’s going to be a struggle to get people to trust her again.
Felicity: Not Perfect But Knows Right From Wrong And Deserves A Second Chance
Unlike Lori, Felicity was willing to own up to her mistake. She also sure look of disappointment in her daughter’s eyes when the truth got out. We should also note that she did not do it for herself. She only went along with it because she has a child with an alleged learning disability.
Huffman knew what she did was wrong and became committed to righting it. Loughlin believed she was worth more than she was and believed fighting the charges would stop whatever fate befell her. Life isn’t some movie, Lori where everything corrects itself at the end.
Also, Felicity isn’t a celebrity. Yes, she has acting awards and is well-known but she is just a wife and mother trying to support her family. Meanwhile, Lori sees herself as this perfect person who lives incredibly comfortably and can do no wrong.
There is no such thing as perfection. Everyone has their flaws and Felicity understands this. Lori does not. We respect Huffman for wanting to do to the right thing. Though, we hate what she did.
