Glee fans are mourning as the news of the recovery of Naya Rivera’s body has started to make the rounds.
It’s the outcome we never wanted but suspected. The body of Glee star Naya Rivera has been found on Lake Piru five days after she went missing during an afternoon out with her four-year-old son, Josey. Authorities believe the actress got her child onto their rented boat before disappearing beneath the water’s surface.
In the past few days, we have reported on this developing story, and now it has reached its tragic conclusion.
Heather Morris, Ryan Dorsey, The Rivera Family Join The Search
Naya’s Glee onscreen love interest and friend Heather Morris contacted the authorities searching for Rivera, asking if she could help. However, we don’t know if Morris got permission to assist in the search.
Before discovering the body, People magazine reported that Morris and some of the Glee cast were present at Lake Piru, where they stood hand-in-hand. This comes a day after Yolanda Rivera, Naya’s mother, dropped to her knees with her son and Naya’s brother, Mychal consoling her.
Meanwhile, Naya’s ex-husband and father of her son, Ryan Dorsey and her dad George joined the search teams. Dorsey is understandably devastated by the loss of his ex-wife. He feels he won’t know how to raise their child without her. In conclusion, he is the man seen sobbing at the lakeside during the search.
Lea Michele Deletes Her Twitter Account
Naya’s co-star and onscreen rival, Lea Michele, came under fire for not posting about the disappearance of her former associate. Trolls blasted her and claimed they wished it was her and her unborn child that had drowned. This resulted in the actress deleting her Twitter account. However, her Instagram is still active.
Fellow Glee alumni Amber Riley and Kevin McHale defended Lea and called for people to show some respect. The search wasn’t about Michele or the rest of the cast. Therefore, it was about finding Naya and giving her family closure.
Search Teams Find The Body Of Naya Rivera
Just after the Glee cast gathered at the edge of Lake Piru, the body of Naya Rivera was discovered. Coincidentally, this also happened to be the 7th anniversary of the death of Cory Monteith. Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said in a press conference:
Today our search teams have recovered a body in the lake. Based on the location where the body was found, physical characteristics of the body, clothing found on the body, and the physical condition of the body, as well as the absence of any other person who was reported missing in the area, we are confident the body we found is that of Naya Rivera. She was found in a northeastern portion of the lake, near the surface of the water. The depth of the water in that area is between 35 and 60 feet deep and there’s heavy brush and trees on the lake bed there.

Moreover, he says there was no life jacket on the body and that an autopsy would be performed to determine an official cause of death.
During the press conference, Ayub was also asked how Josey ended up back on the boat. He speculated that in the afternoon, there’s stronger currents. Moreover, Naya had enough energy to get her son to safety, but not herself.
Furthermore, if this happened, it would match up with what Josey told the authorities when they interviewed him. He said that his mother helped him back on the boat. However, when he turned around, she disappeared.
Nonetheless, Ayub also stated that there was no evidence to suggest suicide or foul play. It has previously been saying it was a tragic accident and nothing suspicious. Moreover, this is good news, but it does not bring her back.
Condolences
Furthermore, we send our love and condolences to the Rivera/Dorsey family. What happened was a tragic accident—sending our love to the cast of Glee and anyone else who had the honour of knowing Naya. In conclusion, we’re keeping her family and friends in our thoughts. RIP Naya Rivera.
You will never be forgotten. Your family, friends, and fans will always remember you as kind and selfless. Naya, you saved your son’s life and in our eyes, you’re a hero.
