Will Lady Louise Take Up A Princess Title Upon Her 18th Birthday?

Princess

Will Lady Louise become a princess upon her 18th birthday?

She’s the youngest granddaughter of Her Majesty The Queen. Lady Louise Windsor, the daughter of Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex about to hit a huge milestone. In early November, she will turn 18. On that day, she will have the chance to decide whether her title changes from Lady to Princess.

Unlike her two older female cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, Louise wasn’t made a princess at birth in 2003. The reason is that when her parents married, they were branded the Earl and Countess of Wessex. Their children were granted courtesy titles hence Louise being a ‘Lady’ and her younger brother James being ‘Viscount Severn’. In Layman’s Terms, they got the titles accustomed of being children of an Earl rather than a Duke.

The reason Beatrice and Eugenie were made princesses was that their father, Prince Andrew is a duke and they are granddaughters of the monarch.

While Louise is a granddaughter of The Queen too, her title reflects on her own father’s title of Earl. It reported by the BBC at the time of her birth that her parents had decided not to give her a HRH title.

Is Louise Entitled To Change Her Title?

Now, if there are any Sussex Squad members who are reading this and going, “No, Louise is not entitled to be a princess because Baby Lili isn’t one”, please do us a favor and shut up. According to People, Sophie, Louise’s mother has stated that her children do have HRH titles but do not use them. She has also said that it will be their choice if they choose to though it is unlikely that they will.

So, to answer the question, yes, Louise is entitled to change her title but only if she wants to. But, why change a good thing, right?
