Batwoman: Witnesses And Suspects To Lucius Fox’s Murder Hunted

There’s a new twist in Lucius Fox’s murder case. An assassin is hunting people associated with the famed Batman ally. The question is, why?

Luke Fox has struggled with his father’s murder, and now he’s been dealt a new blow; Lucius’ killer is now free. However, something isn’t sitting right. Jacob recruits Sophie to help him track down the woman who owned the convenience store where Lucius was murdered.

They discover that the security tapes had disappeared, and the Crows paid money to make it happen. Not long after this, the store’s owner is found murdered, and Sophie becomes a target. She, however, is saved by Julia Pennyworth, who takes the bullet meant for her.

Why Would Someone Want Lucius Dead? Jacob Rehires Sophie

For a while, it was assumed Lucius was murdered by a man named Reggie Harris (Seth Whittaker) as the victim’s blood covered him, and he had the murder weapon in his hand. However, over the last few weeks, we’ve been finding out that there might be more at play.

Reggie meets Jacob in prison after Kate and Beth/Alice’s father is framed for murdering his wife Catherine by his own daughter. Despite trying to pick a fight with the Crows commander, he ends up saving his life.

However, we must ask ourselves why someone would want Lucius dead and then frame an innocent bystander?

Jacob has recently learned that there might be a mole inside the Crows and quickly learns to trust no one. The only person he can trust, he’s just fired; Sophie. He tells her everything he knows so far, and she’s quick to jump back on board.

Lucius’ death sent shockwaves amongst those who knew him best. We learn from Reggie that the night Luke’s dad died, he told the whole store that his Lucas (Luke) was going to MIT, showing how proud he was of his son.

Targets Acquired And Julia’s Shock

In this episode, much of Sophie’s screen time was spent with Julia, who knows about her history with Kate. We also learn something else we didn’t know before; she didn’t realise Lucius was dead and that he was her godfather. It’s no wonder she’s so close to Luke.

Earlier, we mentioned that the shop owner who witnessed Lucius’ murder was found dead. Sophie finds her and is also a target. Reggie, the guy who allegedly killed the father-of-one, is shot dead just hours after his release. Towards the end of the episode, Jacob is also targeted but sees the assassin coming before he shoots him. The last thing we see is the assassin lying on the ground, either dead or unconscious after Jacob shoots him.

Why Would Lucius Be Targeted?

While we can’t break down who would want to kill Lucius, we can question why someone would kill him. Then there’s the whole question as to why someone would take out people linked to his murder case. We know Alice and the Wonderland gang aren’t responsible for this, but why would someone take out someone treasured in Gotham as Lucius Fox? And no, this doesn’t mean Kevin Conroy would come as Bruce.

From what we know about Batman’s tech guru, he was one of the people Bruce trusted with his secret outside of Alfred. He was also a devoted father to Luke, who would follow in his footsteps and serve Kate as her tech guy and only true friend. This also makes us question if we’ll see more of the Fox family. Could Lucius’ inspiration be enough to have Luke become Batwing?

Every possibility that Lucius stumbled across something he shouldn’t have and got him killed. On the other hand, maybe the armed holdup was more than what it appeared, and someone wanted Lucius but Reggie to take the fall simultaneously. There are a million ways they could spend this story, and it will be a thrill ride. Moreover, could this lead to old faces popping up?
