Who Did Kelly Marie Tran Play In Star Wars?

Rose, Tico

Kelly Marie Tran plays Rose Tico in The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. The character first appears as the sister of Paige Tico, a Resistance pilot who sacrifices her life for the greater good. For much of The Last Jedi, Rose was a love interest to reformed Stormtrooper Finn, though the relationship never went anywhere outside of one kiss.

Rose’s role in Rise of Skywalker was reduced due to the CGI needed to keep Carrie Fisher in the film as much as possible due to the actress’s 2016 death.

However, Kelly got to voice the character in the non-canon LEGO specials. These specials have some connection to the sequel trilogy but do their own thing.

Rose And The Heavy Blow

Rose is a mechanic who is dealt a heavy blow by her sister’s death. During this time, she was trying to keep herself from falling apart. Having grown up on Hays Minor, a profoundly impoverished mining colony, she joined the Resistance when the First Order took over Hays Minor’s mines.

She delayed the First Order’s days for three days by blowing up some of the OreDiggers. After that, Rose and Paige did what they could protect the people in their colony and their parents.

The Tico sisters were incredibly close and wore matching pendants around their necks, symbolising their sisterhood. Upon joining the Resistance, General Leia Organa offered the girls her condolences. She even gave them her blessing to go after the First Order themselves. However, they decided they could be of more use to the Resistance.
