WandaVision sees the return of Jimmy Woo, the S.H.I.E.L.D Agent who thinks he’s funny like all of the time…
With WandaVision coming to our screens very soon, we thought about we’d talk a little about some of the characters who will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe from previous projects. One of these will be S.H.I.E.L.D Agent, Jimmy Woo. It’s just a shame he didn’t appear in Endgame.
This guy thinks he’s hilarious. Before you roll your eyes, hear us out. We love Woo for being the goofball he is, but there are times where he just doesn’t make any sense. We’re going to explore some of those little moments right now. Believe us, this is going to be fun since he’s only appeared in one movie.
[Please note: these points are NOT in chronological order.]
1. Thinks He’s Good With Kids
Woo is one of those guys who thinks he is good at everything when he’s actually not. During his appearance in Ant-Man and the Wasp, he is put in charge of overseeing Scott Lang’s home detention.
He first appears when Scott is roughhousing around with his daughter, Cassie when he accidentally puts his foot through the fence. Woo, like the other agents who have accompanied him, thinks that he was trying to escape. Lang questions why would he would when he only has three days left on his sentence.
Cassie cuts in and questions why can’t they leave her father alone. Woo crouches down to her level and explains the overly complicated situation her dad found himself in when he sided with Captain America in Germany. Scott sarcastically comments on how good he is with kids.
Woo, thinking he’s being sincere, thanks him and says he’s also a Youth Pastor which earns him a weird look from Cassie.
2. Too Overconfident
Woo is too overconfident in his own skills. This is evident when Hank Pym and his daughter, Hope Van Dyne are captured.
When one of his agents informs him – in front of Scott – of this he responds with:
Seriously? Yes! Oh. Sorry, Scott. They were your friends. That’s insensitive. I just really needed a win, you know? Anyway, I’ll be back later for the official end of your sentence. Sorry for misjudging you, pal. You should feel great about yourself.
Jimmy Woo to Scott Lang after being informed by Agent Pearson of Hank and Hope’s capture.
Now, this was awkward but really funny to watch because it goes to show just how shallow Woo can be when it comes to his job. He doesn’t take other people’s feelings into consideration, especially when the person he’s talking about is standing in front of him.
3. Woo Tries To Copy Scott’s Close Up Magic Skills
It’s no secret that Scott is simply too talented in close up magic which he’d spent time learning while in lock up in his own house. Woo, sees this as something he could learn but fails miserably at it as he sits at his computer for hours and can’t get it.
4. Gullible
Woo doesn’t know when he’s being fooled. When Scott, Hank, and Hope do escape and are forced to go after Ghost, they decide to trick the FBI/S.H.I.E.L.D agent but enlarging the Ant-Man suit to give them a chance to get away without being caught.
Jimmy thinks it Scott in the suit and orders it to surrender, unaware that it’s just the costume.
5. Woo Believes Cassie’s Lie About Scott Being Sick
If you thought Woo was gullible for believing the gag with the Ant-Man suit, he’s quick to believe Cassie’s lie about her dad being sick when he storms into the house, believing he’s escaped.
Truth of the matter is, Scott had escaped thanks to Hope and Hank. Cassie, seeing the ant that had been put in place of her dad, stalls Woo by telling him that her father’s sick. He says he doesn’t buy it and tries to get past her. Her mother, Maggie tells her to let him pass. Knowing Scott isn’t back yet, she says he threw up like a lot.
Woo pauses for a moment to clarify with her how much. She allows him to pass her just as Scott exits the bathroom and says its a mess in there, verifying Cassie’s obvious lie that he was sick.
