Spider-Man: No Way Home – New Trailer Drops With A Few… Surprises

Behold! It’s the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Spider-Man is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for another adventure. After the events of Far From Home, Peter Parker must confront the authorities after his exposure as New York’s beloved web-head by Mysterio. For him, there is no way home unless he figures out how to save his bacon.

MJ: The Biggest Presence

Outside of Peter and Doctor Strange, MJ appears a significant amount of times. She’ll have a more active part in the film, which is more than her other appearances.

There are several great shots of MJ where she appears to be Like Ned, MJ will make Peter constantly question himself. She will stand by any decision he makes. But will his decisions and overall actions result in him losing her altogether?

A shot early in the trailer shows Peter, MJ holding hands as they and Ned and walk through a crowd of people as they enter the school. There is also a part where Peter says he never wanted to lie to her. Luckily MJ is forgiving and has a massive soft spot for him.

Though, we reported a while back that SpideyMJ might be headed for splitsville as there were behind-the-scenes photos of MJ looking upset.

Betty Might Be On Team Mysterio

Aspiring journalist Betty Brant is back, and it appears she might be on Team Mysterio. We mention this because Spider-Man: No Way Home Updates on Twitter zoomed in on the television you see. Betty isn’t at school and is presenting a news report.

We need to question what happened between the Europe trip where everything was a-okay to the arrival back in New York.

Perhaps it’s possible that Betty got an internship with J.Jonah Perhaps Betty got an internship with J.Jonah Jameson, and he brainwashed her against Spider-Man.

Interrogation

There are three shots at different points of Peter, Ned, and May in the middle of being interrogated. However, the room Peter is in looks different to the one Ned and May occupy.

The scene with Peter is placed much earlier in the trailer which, sees him handcuffed to the table.

Ned might be beginning to feel the strain of everything. Hints of this come in Peter’s narration.

How all of this is affecting May is unknown. We know she’s incredibly supportive of Peter and always has been. But how far can she be pushed?

The New York Sanctum, Doctor Strange, And Wong

Next up in our breakdown of the No Way Home trailer is of the New York Sanctum. Though, the most unexpected part was Strange’s demeanour.

Usually, Strange is rigid and by-the-book. However, he’s much looser. Sure, we’ve seen him be a cocky ass, but that’s who Stephen is. If you cast your minds back to their introduction to each other in Avengers: Infinity War, Strange thought Peter was annoying. Now, he’s more friendly toward him.

That leads up to Wong.

Now, we were not expecting Wong in No Way Home.

Anyway, Wong tells Strange not to cast the spell. Strange says he won’t. He waits until his friend is not present before he winks at Peter as if to say, “Don’t worry, I’ll help you”. What we wanted to point out is we see Wong walk through a portal carrying luggage. That makes us wonder where he could be going.

Currently, we don’t know where in the MCU timeline Shang-Chi takes place. What we are aware of, however, is Wong is the common denominator of both films. Perhaps Shang-Chi overlaps with some of the events of No Way Home.

Peter Tempers With Strange’s Spell

One of the more humorous moments in the No Way Home trailer is when Peter unintentional messes with Strange’s spell. He asks if the former surgeon can omit May, MJ, and Ned as he still wants them to know. Ultimately, this leads to a hilarious exchange where the former Avenger ally tells the kid to be quiet. However, the whole thing backfires on them.

Happy’s Back, But He’s In Danger!

Now, we were not expecting to see Happy at all in the trailer. For a while, we didn’t know if he was in the movie. The  No Way Home MCU Fandom Page revealed Jon Favreau would return to his iconic role as Harold ‘Happy’ Hogan as far back as April.

Anyway, we have to wonder where he is. It looks like Happy gets stuck in his car. The shot before this doesn’t show a car. But there was an explosion where the bridge caves in a scene later.

Perhaps, the car is undamaged because Happy doesn’t look hurt, just a little shell-shocked.

Multiverse Villains

To end our trailer breakdown, we have to address the multiverse villains. We’ve known for a while that Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock from the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films would appear de-aged like Nick Fury was in Captain Marvel. We also knew that Jamie Foxx would play Electro from the Andrew Garfield Amazing Spider-Man movies, but he wouldn’t be blue.

The trailer alludes to Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman from Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 will appear. Given the footage, it looks like Curtis Connors/The Lizard is going to pop up too.

Earlier, we mentioned a bridge collapse.

We think Doc Ock or Green Goblin will orchestrate it.

That’s right, MCU fans.

Willem Defoe is back as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. His voice is heard in the trailer though we don’t see him the way we get Molina. But we do get the hand bomb devices that GG was known for in the Raimi films.
