DC Film And TV Head James Gunn Is Hearing DC Fans Loud And Clear!

James Gunn

James Gunn is one of the few good things to have come out of the shakeup involving Warner Brothers Discovery and DC. The famed director, best known for his takes on Guardians of the Galaxy for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has taken up the role of co-CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, as per the ABC.

One of the umbrellas Gunn and Safran will oversee is the DC television branch. This branch of the studio includes Gunn’s smash-hit Peacemaker, Superman & Lois and the now cancelled Stargirl and Legends of Tomorrow. One of our followers and a staunch voice in the #RenewStargirl/#SaveStargirl campaign, Miguel, sent us in the direction of a thread of tweets by James Gunn on Twitter.

While he doesn’t reference Stargirl directly, he does acknowledge the #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow campaign and #ReleaseTheAyerCut, as well as the multiverse. Now, it is possible that given that #ReleaseTheAyerCut trends almost every day, it might be bots. There are over 100k tweets each time. But that is a conversation for another time.

James Gunn Understands The Fans

DC’s Stargirl fans are passionate, and they are loud. We’ve seen and experienced it for ourselves. Unfortunately, Nexstar had its mind made up when they failed to promote the show outside of one trailer, a banner and a poster before the season started. Pagey mentioned this in a video the other day.

In conclusion, the best thing we, the fans, can do right now is cross our fingers. We hope for the best. If James Gunn is seeing the Legends of Tomorrow and Ayer Cut fans, he should also be seeing the Stargirl fans. Several cast members and crew have already called out Nexstar for the cancellation. We need to get the #SaveStargirl and #DCStargirl trending. Be sure to tag James Gunn in tweets addressing the situation. The more tweets he sees, the better the chance we have.
