Hercules Reboot In Works With Russo Brothers Producing

Hercules

Hercules is returning to the big screen for a reboot from Walt Disney Studios! This time, however, Joe and Anthony Russo will produce.

It had catchy tunes, a wise cracking God of the Underworld, a womanising satyr and a godling with a huge heart. Yep, we’re talking about Disney’s Hercules. The film that spawned a spin-off television series, similar to that of fellow 80s-90s movies, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid, is being remade by Disney with a little help from directing powerhouses Joe and Anthony Russo who will be producing.

The news comes as not much as a surprise as it was only a matter of time before Hercules received the reboot treatment. After all, Hades played a role in 2019’s Disney Channel Original Movie, Descendants 3.

The famous godling himself or demigod in the legends, Hercules has appeared on screen dozens of times over the years. One such film is the 2014 film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson which based off the late Steve Moore’s comic series Hercules: The Thracian Wars. It also steers away from the titular hero being a demigod and his origins being a myth told by his nephew, Iolaus.

According to the Russos, their version of the story will not be a direct translation of the original Disney film. They also stated that they were in the very early stages of developments and didn’t say whether the movie would be a musical or not. We can only hope it is, but we won’t know anything for certain until they actually get into pre-production.

With most of the world’s film and television projects on indefinite hiatus due to the coronavirus, it might be a while until we get any new updates. We’ll keep you posted if we get any news on this exciting new take on Hercules.
