Stargirl Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

everything

Everything is about to change for the JSA.

As we edge closer to the premiere of Stargirl Season 2, we were given the idea to do an ‘Everything We Know So Far…’ post by our dear friends over at the Stargirl Wiki. It’s a great idea to give some perspective into what we know already and might expect as we arrive back in Blue Valley for the JSA’s newest adventure.

A word of caution before we begin, everything in this post is considered a spoiler, so if you don’t want to know anything, PLEASE don’t read ahead.

Also, before we jump into the post, this is only a partial list of what we know. There hasn’t been a lot of intel at all. We’ve also tried to keep things relevant to the important stuff. However, some sections of this post are concise, despite their importance to the story.

Returning Recurring Characters Who Are Central To The Story

So, let’s begin with a simple one. We’ve known since the end of Season 1 that Starman himself, Sylvester Pemberton is still alive and will play some role in the next season. How much of a role he could play is unclear at the moment. However, he is not the only returning recurring character.

Sportsmaster, Tigress, Bobbie Burman, Ted Grant/Wildcat, Sir Justin/Shining Knight, and Charles McNider/Doctor Mid-Nite are all coming back in some capacity. We purposely didn’t put the owner of the junkyard Zeek on the list because he’s not significant to the story that much.

Ysa Penarejo Is Jade

It has been speculated for months about who dancer/actress Ysa Penarejo would be playing. However, Yvette Monreal accidentally let the cat out of the bag when she posted a photo of her Instastories of Ysa with a Green Lantern ring which she deleted after a few hours when people started noticing the leak from the set.

When the full trailer dropped featuring Ysa’s character, she confirmed on Instagram that she was playing Jennie, aka Jade. This had been revealed months earlier on Stargirl.TV, and while we do not refute their claim, we must wait until someone close to production or the information is confirmed via a news source.

Also, from the promo images that have been unveiled, Jennie becomes ingrained with the JSA quickly.

Eclipso Is The Main Villain And Everything Is Not Okay

With the arrival of The Shade at the end of last season, we got the tease of Eclipso with Cindy going through The Wizard’s storage shed and finding the diamond containing the Prince of Darkness. It has been rumoured that he might even stick around for Season 3 and may embody Bruce Gordon.

It has also been revealed that he’ll be the main villain while The Shade will be the recurring villain of the season.

Beth Gets The Goggles Repaired And Likely Chuck Back Online

Given the stills and the behind-the-scenes photos we’ve gotten, it’s pretty evident that Beth will have repaired the goggles by the time we catch up with her. But will this mean that she has gotten Chuck back online? It’s possible. Also, Bec [Bassinger] posted a photo to her Instastories of the goggles, according to the Season 2 Stargirl Wiki page.

Tigress And Sportsmaster Are Both Back And Everything Is Going To Hell

Of the original ISA confirmed returning, both Tigress and Sportsmaster will return for round 2. Also, their daughter, Artemis, might be in on the action this time as she has a rather tense-looking confrontation with Courtney in the first episode of the season.

At the moment, we don’t know how Tigress and Sportsmaster escape prison. We know they’re locked up because Rick mentions it in the trailer.

Icicle Jr Incoming!

There will be a lot more going on with Cameron this season, and it has been said that he will be leaning towards his villain persona from the comics, Icicle Junior. From what we’ve heard, there will be tension between him and Courtney, and you can guess why. We’ve done a theory on how we think Cameron might become Mike’s adversary. Arrowverse YouTuber, Pagey bought this up in his most recent Stargirl video.

Now, everything is still up in the air about what is going on with him this season. However, Pagey is usually spot on with his content, and if he’s right, we’ll know more about Cameron’s pending (and potential) villain role before credits roll at the end of the season premiere.

Solomon Grundy Is Returning

At DC Fandome last year, Geoff Johns and Cameron Gellman [Rick] revealed that we had not seen the last of Solomon Grundy. How he comes back into the fold after Rick spared his life at the end of last season will be intriguing. What Hourman II did was the opposite of what Yolanda does with Brainwave, and as we’ve said before, Rick and Yolanda’s storylines are parallels of each other. One wants to kill but doesn’t go through with it, while the other says killing is wrong but does it anyway.

Will Rick and Grundy become allies in some way?

Mike And Barbara Play Supporting Roles Within The JSA

For most of the first season, Mike and Barbara were in the dark about the JSA, and it caused total tension when they did find out. Barbara and Pat’s marriage ends up on the rocks, leading to Pat being kicked out of the house. Meanwhile, Mike understands why Courtney and his dad became so close. It eventually leads to the step-siblings finally accepting each other as family.

Come Season 2; the tensions will be gone as there will be no more secrets. As seen in the picture above, Mike is an honorary team member. But like Barbara, he is merely there as support despite his desire to help. For example, look at what happened when he knocked out Sportsmaster with a drill.

Barbara will likely become like the JSA’s den mother, who provides comfort when the team needs encouragement.

The Season Will Be Much Darker Than The First

Given the promo material, we all know that Season 2 will be far darker than the first season. With Eclipso being the dark entity in the middle of everything, it’s not hard to see why. Many characters were placed in an unclear position at the end of last season, especially with all the deaths.

The conversation behind how dark the season was going to be has been around a while as Joy Osmanski [Tigress] said it’s so dark that she won’t let her children watch it. Even Geoff Johns has said Eclipso is to thank for that.

Jakeem Thunder And Thunderbolt

We knew Jakeem Thunder was coming because we got the set up last season with the appearance of the pink pen and Mike’s name drop. Also, Jim Gaffigan has been cast as Thunderbolt. Now, we haven’t gotten any promo material with Jakeem. But we have gotten trailer footage of Thunderbolt scaring the total crap out of Mike. Both characters will be recurring this season, alongside Jennie/Jade. There has also been a rumour that Johnny Thunder will pop up too.

Hootie Will Appear Again

Despite only appearing in two episodes last season, Charles McNider’s beloved owl, Hootie, will make a comeback in Season 2. Fans loved seeing him, so that Geoff Johns will bring the little guy back. How he will appear is unknown at this point. He may even meet Beth and become her new companion.

Jay Garrick

Original Flash Jay Garrick will appear in episode 9. It’s believed that this episode may be one big flashback. The Flash’s John Wesley Shipp will reprise his role. However, it is unclear if this version of Garrick is the same as the Earth-Prime.
