Comment scams are becoming even more common nowadays. These are those odd comments on social media, especially on YouTube, which claim you won something or to sign up to Telegram for whatever reason. In this post, we’ll explain what you can do if you encounter these scams.

So, the first thing is first. Then, check your comments sections regularly, and be sure to tell your followers NOT to click the link and that it was not you that up the link there. Just a side note: alert your followers if you see someone pretending to be you. Also, report the impersonator to the social media outlet.

If you have to, report the accounts to your country’s version of Scam watch. Also, if you can, delete the messages and block the scam if possible. Be sure to spread the word on your other social media accounts and pin a comment or post to ensure people see it and are aware of what’s going on.

Finally, if the comments become too much to handle, shut them off. It will give you peace of mind as it can be time-consuming going through many comments and deleting all the scam ones. If you’re on YouTube and these comments keep popping up, ignore them, but as we mentioned, be sure to alert your followers. The last thing you want is someone accusing you of conning them when you didn’t.

If accidentally click the link, be sure to scan your computer or device for viruses.
