Prince Harry has said many questionable things over the years – Has the dimwitted red-headed prince of Montecito always been an anti-monarchist? His blatant disrespect for anything related to his family is beginning to make me question his stance on his grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen’s legacy.
Like other spares that came before him, Prince Harry is no longer relevant to the direct line of succession. Instead, he follows in the footsteps of his disgraced uncle Andrew and late great-aunt Margaret, who both had hard times accepting they were no longer essential to the monarchy.
However, unlike their nephew, Andrew and Margaret didn’t disrespect the monarchy or the Queen. They never tried to blindside her. Harry, unfortunately, has. He claimed to Oprah Winfrey that he would NEVER do this. But, of course, we all know the Duke of Sussex is bitter that there’s no half-in, half-out deal. So he desired to attend all the glamourous events while leaving the “boring” stuff to the others.
Now, let’s go over why I believe Harry is an anti-monarchist.
He Hates Britain And Being A Royal
Many people hate their home countries. There is no denying this, but how are public figures who have said this down the camera barrel? The only one that springs to mind is Harry.
Reuters reported in 2008 that Harry said in an interview that he didn’t like England very much. In a video by Entertainment Tonight Canada from 2017, he claimed he hated being a royal and wanted to be a commoner but didn’t leave out respect for his grandmother.
If this were true, why did he blindside the Queen, and why didn’t he return home to support her through his grandfather’s memorial? Also, why isn’t he allowing her to see his children in person?
It also hasn’t escaped my notice that Harry got his wish to leave the monarchy. But he’s still miserable. He’s living on the opposite side of the world in a country he mocked by claiming their first amendment was “bonkers.”
Comments Against His Family
Harry has made a ton of defamatory comments against his family. He has said that no one in his family wants to be the monarch. This occurred during an interview in 2017, according to Alexandra Topping of the Guardian. Just because he doesn’t (or does, in my humble opinion) doesn’t mean he speaks for the whole family. The members in direct line that understand what is to come for them see it as an honour. They might disagree with becoming monarchs, but they cannot help being the firstborn. It’s also something they never asked for. If anything, they see it as an honour.
Another comment he has made was during the Oprah interview where he claimed his father and brother are “trapped” as future monarchs as they can’t leave. I said in the post I wrote about this that Harry is the true “trapped” one. He’s in a marriage with no happiness for him, yet he lashes out at his father and brother, who are in loving relationships with their wives.
Naming His Daughter After A Woman Is The Head Of A “Racist” Institution
When Lilibet was born, many people were pissed off because Harry and his wife named their daughter after the Queen. There wouldn’t be an issue if they chose Elizabeth or another form of the Queen’s name. However, they decided to use Her Majesty’s private nickname. After Prince Philip died, it is reported that the Queen requested that no one use the moniker ever again.
Harry knew how much that nickname meant to his grandmother. He doesn’t give two effs about her feelings. In his and his wife’s minds, they thought they would be honouring the Queen and getting their dream name for their little girl, and everyone would be thrilled. No. Sorry. For me, this is utterly disrespectful. Just months before the baby’s birth, they called the monarchy and everyone in it racist.
The Queen is the HEAD of said racist institution. So why name your kid after someone involved in something horrid if you feel that way? What’s more, there was a goal in mind. By naming the child after Her Majesty, they thought, they’d get all the applause in the world for honouring the Queen.
Sorry, but you don’t get to say that the monarchy is racist and expect people to applaud you for naming your kid after its figurehead.
Nothing Without The Titles
In summary, Harry is nothing without his prince title and dukedom. If he were “Harry Mountbatten-Windsor”, he’d be just another face in the crowd. However, having his titles makes him “a somebody.” Is he an anti-monarchist, or is he becoming one? Yes, I believe he is. The proof is, and he doesn’t want to see it.
