Our readership seems to have an interest in the deaths that have featured on Home and Away. After the success of our previous post on the subject, let’s look at five unseen Home and Away deaths.
These Home and Away deaths happened off-screen.
1. Beth Hunter
This first unseen Home and Away death happened in April 2007. Beth Hunter, who had been a potential character from 2003 to early 2007, was killed in a car crash on her way home to Summer Bay after she’d gone to visit her son Scott and his partner Hayley and their young son in France. Members of her family that remained in the Bay were devastated.
A memorial service was held in Summer Bay before her body was buried in Adelaide, her original home.
2. Gabe Miller
2023 was a trying year for Mackenzie Booth, which included the return of her former fiancé, Gabe Miller. He jilted Mac days before their wedding years earlier. But there was a secret. Gabe had had cancer, and Mac’s father, Rick Booth, had paid him off to leave her.
Gabe went into remission, but when he accidentally hit his head on a surfboard, he went to the hospital and was told his cancer had returned. He left Mac, not wanting to put her through the pain of watching him die. Unfortunately, he later dies off-screen in late April 2023.
3. Romeo Smith
Luke Mitchell played Todd “Romeo” Smith from 2009 to 2013. The character was diagnosed with stage four melanoma. He asks his father-in-law and local doctor, Sid Walker, not to tell his wife, Indi, about his cancer. Romeo sets up a final romantic getaway for Indi, knowing he will die. He leaves town and leaves a note for Indi but keeps the truth a secret.
Months later, news of Romeo’s death arrives in Summer Bay. Furthermore, devastating Indi. Moreover, his ashes are then sprinkled in the bay.
4. Dan Baker
The second of Leah Patterson’s husbands, Dan Baker, was played by Tim Campbell from 2004 to 2007. After being offered a job in America as a counsellor, Dan left with the intention of Leah joining him. Unfortunately, however, in 2008, Leah gets a call that changes everything. Dan has been killed in an abseiling accident.
5. Susie McAllister
Our last unseen Home and Away death was Susie McAllister, played by Bridie Carter. Appearing in February 2021 was a con artist who swindled Leah and Justin Morgan out of $90,000 when they asked her to help them find their first home. Furthermore, Irene is suspicious and ends up drugged by her when she attempts to confront the woman.
Susie was later found murdered with her killer being town newcomer, Steven Tennyson.
