Who Voiced Scar In The Lion King? Get To Know Jeremy Irons

Scar, Jeremy Irons, the lion king

He’s the evil uncle that took Simba’s rightful place as king. Scar, voiced by Jeremy Irons in the first Lion King, was inspired by King Claudius in Hamlet, the fascist and hater of Jewish people, Adolf Hitler and Macbeth from, well, Macbeth.

The younger brother of Mufasa, Scar, was never destined to be king and took great displeasure in the birth of his nephew, Simba. Scar killed his brother with the help of the hyenas setting off a stampede of antelope. Simba was supposed to die but didn’t and could get away. Everyone knows how the story ends

Before we get into the post, on a larger basis, this article does NOT cover The Lion Guard television series, nor does it cover the live-action movie or its upcoming prequel.

Voice actor Jeremy Irons is multi-talented. Not only is he an incredible actor, but he is also a director, singer and activist. He is also well-versed in Shakespeare and has done several Shakespearean plays.
