Who doesn’t love Master Yoda? He has been a staple in Star Wars since 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back. He has seen so much of the galaxy shift and change, but we know little about him. We don’t know his species and haven’t seen too many of his kind running around the universe in canon. We have Grogu and Yaddle, but we’ve never seen others like them. We don’t even know what their home world is.
Yoda has seen many Jedi come and go from the Jedi Order. He even taught many apprentices in his 900 years of life. Most Younglings are taught by him before many of them are taken on by Jedi Knights or Jedi Masters. He is the grandmaster of every famous Jedi in the galaxy, including Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Cal Kestis, Kanan Jarrus (formerly Caleb Dume), Luminara Unduli, Qui-Gon Jinn, etc.
The grandmaster saw a lot of success within the Jedi Order and many failures. Yoda’s most significant loss was not being able to see the downfall of the Jedi Order before it happened. He also didn’t listen to the warning signs, such as his fight with Dooku on Geonosis and the visions he saw of Order 66 where Jedi were struck down, including Shaak Ti and, at one point, Ahsoka Tano. However, the former apprentice of Anakin Skywalker did survive the onslaught.
Yoda Witnesses A New Hope Emerge
Yoda also bore witness to the births of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa and the death of their mother, Padmé Amidala. Before his death, he revealed to Luke that Darth Vader had been telling the truth when he told him he was his father. He would later appear at the Celebration on Endor after the destruction of the Second Death Star.
Finally, Yoda also guided Ezra Bridger during his quest through the Lothal Jedi Temple. Ahsoka would later mention Yoda by name when she met Din Djarin and his adoptive son, Grogu.
