Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, is one of those royals we don’t get to cover that often. As much as we want to, our knowledge lies with the Brits. However, that changes with this post. We’ve covered a Who Is… post for a prince of Greece and Denmark, but for Crown Princess Victoria, we wanted to do something a little different.

1. Almost Wasn’t The Heir To The Swedish Throne
At birth, Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, wasn’t named heir to the throne. When her younger brother, Prince Carl Philip, was born, he became the Crown Prince of Sweden. However, the rules for the line of succession changed in 1979 and took effect in 1980. This meant that a then toddler Princess Victoria became Crown Princess Victoria, and her brother lost his Crown Prince title, much to the dismay of their father, King Carl Gustaf, who even complained that his son wouldn’t be king.
2. Has Two Learning Disabilities
Crown Princess Victoria has two learning disabilities. The first is dyslexia, which her brother and father also have. She also has Prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness, where she has trouble recognising faces.
3. Crown Princess Victoria Is The Godmother Of Europe
A well-known fact about Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, is that she is affectionately known as The Godmother of Europe. She is known as this because she has 18 godchildren, including Prince Christian of Denmark. She is so close to the Danish royals that Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is godmother to Victoria’s daughter, Princess Estelle, who is also a partial namesake.
4. Eating Disorder
In the 90s, Victoria had eating disorders to the point she had to go to America for treatment. A 2002 book called Victoria, Victoria! goes into more detail about this.
5. A Newspaper Leaked Victoria’s Relationship With Her Now Husband, Daniel
After breaking down her first relationship, Victoria started dating her now-husband, Daniel Westling (now Prince Daniel). It was private until it was leaked via a Swedish newspaper. The relationship in the beginning was touch and go with the Swedish press.
