The Agrippina Files

Roman Emperor Nero & Britain’s Prince Harry: Man-Children With Mother Issues

Nero, Harry

Usually, you wouldn’t associate an ancient Roman emperor and a modern-day prince. But this was too good to pass up. So our first post for The Agrippina Files details the similarities between the mother of Nero, Agrippina the Younger, and Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle. Now, we’re going to cover Nero and Harry and their attributes.

Both men are man-children with mother issues. One had his whole life planned out for him; the throne. Meanwhile, the other fumbles wildly in the dark, not knowing his life path. Yeah, we know how that sounds. It sounds like a prophecy coming to life. But, wow, we’ve been listening to too much Percy Jackson when it comes to adventure prophecies.

Nero And His Mama Issues

According to Owlcation, Agrippina’s lust for power deeply affected her relationship with Nero. She even threatened to withdraw her backing of him and support his rival, Britannicus, after discovering he [Nero] was sleeping with a slave girl named Claudia Acte.

Agrippina had schemed to get Nero to the throne, and she had to kill to get him there. It didn’t matter if she had to murder family members to get him there. They would have been deemed a threat if they were in Nero’s way. As the saying goes, “there is no peace and love in war.”

Was Nero Compliant In His Mother’s Plans For Him?

It is hard to tell whether Nero was for or against his mother’s plan to have him installed as emperor. However, one thing is clear. He was a cruel leader. Moreover, he was disinterested in politics and had no idea how to rule. Why would he? His mother ran everything in his life.

Given that Nero was known to be cruel, it wouldn’t be surprising if he was in on the whole plan. Agrippina was about having power, and having her son on the throne was one way of achieving that. However, imagine having a mother who only cares about power and thumbing her nose at those below them. Also, she had already been empress as she was married to her uncle, Claudius.

However, Agrippina was so blinded by her thirst for control and power over Rome that she didn’t think her son would betray her. Different versions of the story claim she saw the assassination of herself coming because she knew Nero too well, but that’s neither here nor there.

How Does Harry Fit Into This?

So, what does this have to do with Prince Harry? He, much like Nero, has mother issues. His mental development was stunted when his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, died in a car accident on August 31 1997. As a result, he has massive mother issues. However, his problem is that his mum left him, though not by choice. She passed away.

Diana always said that she worried more about Harry than William because she knew the eldest of her boys could handle life. Her youngest could not. She had every right to be concerned, as we all know by now.

Harry has made mistake after mistake and blames everyone else for his actions. He has blamed his father, brother, stepmother and even his sister-in-law, who he once saw as the sister he never had. His sole loyalty is to his wife, who walks around as his mother reincarnated. How? Well, she and Harry married when she was 36, the same age Diana was when she died. She wears outfits similar to the mother-in-law she never knew.

There is a ton of stuff, but the truth is that Harry and Nero aren’t so different when it comes to their mother issues.
