R.I.P Kirk Douglas

Kirk

We hate reporting sad news but here it is. Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas has died aged 103.

The Douglas family has been Hollywood for as long as anyone can remember. It all started with Kirk Douglas, the father of Michael Douglas and father-in-law to Catherine Zeta-Jones. The legend was married twice and had four sons.

Kirk was known for his role in the original Spartacus. He retired from acting in 2008 having received three Academy Award nominations, an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He was also one of the last remaining stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Kirk Douglas is survived by his second wife, Anne, surviving sons Michael, Joel, and Peter, daughter-in-laws Catherine and Lisa, seven grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Michael Douglas posted a tribute to his dad on Instagram.

As Michael states, to the world his father was an acting legend but to him and his brothers, Kirk was simply Dad. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family.

As the Golden Age of Hollywood dwindles, the memories will never fade of the legends who helped shape the film industry to what it is today. For that, we are forever thankful. You helped to shape the stars have now and without you, there would be no film and television industry.

Catherine Zeta-Jones posted a tribute to Kirk on social media. As did Arnold Schwarzengger.

The world has lost a true legend who lived vibrant life. Kirk was a gem in his own right and we’re thankful he could watch him make an impact every person he touched with his words in his books or with the characters he played during his acting days.

R.I.P. Mister Douglas. You’ve been good to us and the world will always remember your kind heart.
