Longtime YouTubers Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson are grown men, right? Well, they’re acting like Queen Bee teenagers who are fighting for the title of top dog. So, why are they going after sensation, James Charles?
YouTube is a fickle place and a minority of social media influencers only do it for the money, the fame, and the power that come with the perks. So, where does Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson fit into the fold? We don’t really care about the details but the issue is this. These are grown men in their early-mid 30s who are going after a young man just out of his teens because he’s good with a makeup brush.
We’re not part of the YouTuber lifestyle so we don’t know all the details, but from what we know, Star has a habit of getting involved in feuds that have zero to do with him. However, he is believed to have instigated or been involved in trying to cancel James Charles, Tati Westbrook’s protégé with whom she treated like a son.
To avoid a long story we don’t have the details of, apparently, James Charles tried to sexual harass straight men (he’s gay) and whatever else. Not to mention, he also used a rival vitamin brand that is competition to Tati’s. Again, we’ve heard the tale but it is of no interest to us as it’s just stupid.
Anyway, while we don’t normally talk about YouTube drama, we wanted to chat about two grown men being scared of a kid. There’s a load of people out there who are just super talented and will grow their platforms really quickly. However, there are those like Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson who have subscriber counts the size of a small continent which has amassed over the span of several years or in one of their cases, 15 years when YouTube first took off.
There Shouldn’t Be A Power Structure On YouTube
If you’ve been on YouTube for a while, you will have noticed that there are some massive creators out there with millions of subscribers. Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star are two of those. However, given their so-called ‘star power’, they think they can simply get involved in other people’s drama.
These two grown men basically have so much free time that they insert themselves into situations that have zero to do with them. Because they have so many followers, they think they’re untouchable.
Jeffree is a dirt bag and he basically took Tati for a ride to get back at James for who knows what reason. Oh, yeah! To fuel his rich ego and his desire to cancel a kid with a million more subs than him who has been a creator for far less time.
Also, we’re not defending James Charles in anything as we really don’t care what he did or didn’t do to piss off Tati. The point of this is to show that there shouldn’t be a power structure to YouTube. However, many of these vloggers think that the higher you rise, the more say they get.
Most influencers do not become YouTubers for the fame and the power or the money. They do the right thing and do what they love. However, Star and Dawson use their platforms to belittle those whom they deem threats or simply do not understand. The pair have already caused enough drama with their disgusting content.
Grown Men Don’t Always Know Best!
Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star just don’t know what to do with their time now that they are worth millions of dollars. They’re just jealous of a kid who has gained a mass following in a much shorter time than they did. Also, if they have evidence about something just reveal it, don’t tease it. However, they also need to think about how their decisions affect other people.
Sexual assault is a serious accusation and if you leak information without someone’s consent, you’re no better than the alleged perpetrator. However, this two grown men don’t know when to quit! Also, Dawson’s behaviour is so gross and disgusting that he could be called out on it or even better; his YouTube and social media accounts should be terminated. Especially after footage resurfaced of him making sexual gestures towards a poster of a then-11 year old Willow Smith. Eww!
A lot of people simply dismiss their behaviour because they’re massive juggernauts and they’re ‘saints’ and they’ve ‘changed’. They’re not either of those things. They’re still transphobic and racist. Actions speak louder than words as the saying goes. Just because they say they are changed people doesn’t mean it’s true. If you look at their social media accounts, they’re still creating drama.
We Don’t Really Care!
Now, there’s probably Shane and Jeffree stans out there who will look at this post as an attack and say James Charles had it coming. We’re not defending ANYONE and for a good reason. These people are not great role models! They’re toxic individuals who, despite all their flaws, have displayed no signs of change.
People who follow these so-called influencers have nothing better to do with their time or they have the same morals as the Jeffrees and the Shanes of the YouTube world. So what if they have enough views to fuel a small continent or two? There are little kids watching and discovering their content who will think their behaviour is okay when it’s clearly not.
Grown men should be role models to young kids. They should be teaching life lessons, not talking tea about people that they don’t like. If we’re honest, we think Jeffree is simply jealous because of James’ success. It might just be coincidental, but in the world of YouTube, anything is possible.
