Betty White Dies Aged 99

Betty

RIP Betty White

She was the oldest on Golden Girl who stood the test of time. Betty White has died aged 99, three weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Betty isn’t the only public figure of her age to pass in 2021. His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, passed in April at 99 after fighting ill health.

Betty looked incredible for her age, and she never slowed down. To earlier audiences, she was known for her role on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. To the younger generations, she was an icon and a symbol of what performers of the Golden Age of Hollywood were capable of with a lot of hard work.

Close friend and agent of Betty, Jeff Witjas, said he thought she would “live forever” given how hard she worked, according to Stephen M. Silverman of People Magazine. Mister Witjas certainly has a point. Betty was on the cusp of immortality to us younger fans. She never let a little hard word get the better of her, and she was still working up to her death.

In her 80s, Betty was still the ultimate scene-stealer, having appeared in the sitcom Hot in Cleveland and comedy movies The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock and You Again with Sigourney Weaver.

Outside of acting, one of her greatest passions was animals. She also felt that when she passed, she would reunite with her late third husband, Allen Ludden. According to Cynthia Littleton of Nine Honey, that Betty died in her sleep on New Year’s Eve morning.

Betty, you were an absolute icon who will be greatly missed. You provided so many generations with laughs and so many animals with love. Go and rest now. After a long and fulfilled life, you deserve it. Furthermore, be with your beloved Allen. He will be glad you’re reunited.
