2021 is shaping up to be an interesting year for Home and Away. When we head back to Summer Bay in February, we’ve be meeting some new faces and they’re connected to Ari Parata. For a year, we’ve gotten small bits of information into Nikau’s uncle’s backstory. We know a fair bit about Tane, but not his brother.
When we met the family in full during 2020, we knew there was something about them that didn’t quite add up. We learned over time that they had left their old community after it was discovered Ari had been involved in a botched armed robbery that killed his other brother and Nikau’s dad, Mikaere.
Nikau is unimpressed with Ari returning to their lives at first but grows use to having him back. Well, his mother Gemma would pull him into line if he’d didn’t get along with him. So would Tane.
Anyway, moving back to Ari’s past, Back to the Bay has reported that more information has come to light regarding two new characters linked to the tradie’s backstory. It was reported that Anna Samson and Sam Barrett had joined the series. There has been an update as to who they’ll be playing.
Samson will playing single mother, Mia Anderson and Barrett will be portraying her daughter, Chloe. Sam was reported to be playing a character named Katherine, which has been proven to be false.
From Back to the Bay’s reporting, Mia and Chloe’s backstory ties in with that of Ari and Nikau, which is likely to cause friction with their current partners, Mac and Bella.
Mia’s Past With Ari
It’s been revealed that Mia was dating Ari prior to his ten year stint in prison. Chloe and Parata were incredibly close and he treated her like his own daughter.
Mia and Ari had a son together who died. If we had to guess, the death of his child caused the tradie to enter a dark path in his life where he committed crime sprees with his brothers. This prompted the chain of events that lead to the armed robbery that resulted in Mikaere’s death, and the estrangement from Gemma, Nik, and Tane.
During this time, Mia was forced to severe Chloe’s ties to her stepfather who she saw as a paternal figure. We cannot help but wonder if there’s any animosity there.
Chloe’s Relationship With Nikau
Meanwhile outside of Ari, Chloe would’ve been friendly with his nephew, Nik. With her return to his life, it’s going to be interesting to see how the whole plays out. From promo footage, it looks like she becomes friendly with Bella and Ryder too.
Could Chloe be Ryder’s new love interest that has been teased? Fingers crossed because we don’t Nik and Bella to break up. They’re too cute together and besides, she’s going to need him when and if Colby dies.
In conclusion, it could appear that Nik sees Chloe like a sister or even a cousin given her former stepdaughter relationship with his uncle. Just because a guy has an arm around a girl doesn’t mean it’s romantic. We don’t know and we’ll just have to wait and see.
