We’re not basketball fans, but we couldn’t pass this story by as #RIPKobe is trending on Twitter. Retired NBA legend Kobe Bryant (41) and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna “Gigi” were killed over the weekend in a helicopter crash.
Father and daughter were on the way to a basketball game when their helicopter went down in Calabasas, California, at around 10am, according to the LA Times.

CNN reports that Kobe saw Gianna as the heir to his legacy as a celebrated basketball player. She inherited her father’s love of basketball and was known to play the sport.
It’s been reported that all nine people onboard the helicopter were killed, including Kobe and Gianna. Meanwhile, It’swrittend by ABC News noted that the victims ‘ bodies were being extracted from the crash site.
What makes this sad is that Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, lost not only her husband but one of her daughters too. The Bryants had four daughters; Natalia (17), Gianna (13), Bianka (7) and Capri (7 months).
