DCEU Castings: Shazam 2 And Black Adam Add A-List Stars

castings

Two massive castings have been announced for the upcoming Shazam!: Fury of the Gods and Black Adam!

The DCEU is about to get even bigger! Over the last couple of days, it has been announced by Variety on both occasions that two of the world’s biggest actors will be joining the DC Extended Universe. The first of the two castings to be revealed is Helen Mirren who has been added to Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

According the first Variety article, Helen Mirren will play the main villain of the Shazam! sequel. She’ll portray Hespera, the daughter of the god, Atlas. However, it’s unknown how this will work as the character doesn’t have an equivalent in DC Comics lore. Though, given that her father’s name is part of who Shazam is, there is no doubting she’s going to be peeved about her father’s part in the hero’s abilities. What that is yet is anyone’s guess.

Mirren is well-known for her character work as she has played Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen. She has also played Magdelene “Queenie” Shaw in The Fast and the Furious franchise.

Finally, the second of our castings is Pierce Brosnan who has been cast as the Kent Nelson version of Doctor Fate in Black Adam as per Variety. Moreover, he is a really good choice for this version of the character. He could definitely pass as Nelson. However, he could also be Zatara too. Moreover, The Rock knows what he’s doing when he’s casting the members of the Justice Society in the movie.

Brosnan is well-known for his portrayal of James Bond, Chiron in the first Percy Jackson movie and his role as Sam in the Mamma Mia films.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is slated for a 2023 release. Furthermore, Black Adam’s release has been delayed until at least 2022.
